Dam I wish I still had my game seal... lol
The " rut " has 3 different stages. Pre rut, rut and post rut. Pre rut, usually starts after the first full moon of fall, mid to late October. The actual " rut " ( when doe's starting to go into estrous ) usually starts the first 2 weeks of November. Post rut is everything after the doe's come out of estrous. Some people don't realize that there is actually a small second " rut " that comes around the first week of December. If doe's don't get pregnant the first time, they will come into heat again. I've shot many decent bucks during that time period. There can be some major factors that affect the " rut ". The most important is weather. If it's too warm, most of your activity will be in the dark. If you get a cold snap in the first 2 weeks in November, you better be in the woods because the action will pic up quick.
Rut is wide open here. Took the day off work. Conditions are perfect, warm and very windy hahahahaha. Seen 2 nice 8's already. They're on the move big time. Just waiting for the big one to show.

I drop the camera after catching the rack coming and grabbed the 20 ga and get set. He catches me moving but leaves a direct shot for the neck and
