Thanks biflora. That’s the list I was looking at. Near as I can tell, the moose season is back to back with deer in many areas.

Judging by what I am reading only cow or bull tags will reset your points not calf tags??? Points will be awarded based on the total number of years a hunter has applied and been unsuccessful in the draw. Continuous applications aren’t required. Being issued a bull or cow tag through the draw or receiving a tag transfer will reset a hunter’s points to zero in that year.
I wonder how far back they go , I have purchased moose tags about 10 times over the last 20 years.
Never been sucessful yet.
Does anyone know the answer to this? or the best place to send emails for questions?
This is straight forward, if you applied the last 5 years you have 5 pts. Now, if you applied the last 2 years, skipped a year (didn't apply)then appiled the two previous years to the skipped year. Would you have 2 points or 4 points?
In your scenario you would have 4 points. This is the info posted in the ERO decision.

Thanks for that - i didn't see that on the other page.
If you are getting an adult moose tag every year it is definitely going up. If you hunt a WMU where moose numbers and tag numbers are lower you are probably not paying much more and maybe even less. I have paid $50 per year for the last 5 years in WMU 39. I have not got an adult moose tag and I have left the calves alone because I want the moose population to grow in the area. $250 donation over those years. This year if I don't get a tag then I will only be paying $15 for the draw. If it takes me 10 years to accrue enough points for a tag in the future that means I have paid $150 for draw entries over that time plus $35 for a license in the 10th year and $200 at most for the tag in the 10th year. A total of $385 over 10 years as opposed to the $500 I would pay with the system that we currently have. I hope that the new system will help the moose population grow so that I can start to get more frequent tags and the 10 year scenario become obsolete. But honestly I think if we want the populations to grow this is one of the improvements we need to see in the system.
