The “law” is the EMA.... the offences are failing to obey an “Order” made pursuant to the EMA. The EMA authorizes government to make such Orders as deemed necessary......
Presently, there are no Orders, dealing with social distancing, or nonessential travel. There is an Order preventing gatherings of more than 5 people.
I have heard some horror stories of bogus charges being laid, due to misinformation by LEOs or lack of understanding of the Act.
I hope people go to court to straighten these out !!

WE keep hearing rumors of tickets being issued,but,when you ask for the details,people can't give particulars. That makes me think that there were extenuating circumstances or someone is merely repeating stories heard from someone else who heard from someone else......you get the idea. I'd dearly love to see the wording on a ticket and read the supporting evidence on the charge report. If these tickets were ever taken into a court clerk's office,I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't withdrawn on the spot. As Woodsman stated,these are merely "guidelines" suggested to be followed. That's a far cry from enacted legislation and Police can NOT make up violations as they go along.

Far too many on social media jumping from recommendations (guidelines) to enforceable laws.
These repeated incorrect statements only add up to unnecessary 911 calls which the dispatchers don't need to deal with.

A buddy told me today, someone was told..( you get the drift ), that they heard of two guys rollerblading in a street were charged because they were not distancing ????
This is the type of information that causes social media to explode !!!!
I have no doubt that some bogus charges are being laid.....!

Agree with the above. Keep hearing rumours but nobody can produce proof. But they sure love to spread hysteria

Back to the original topic. Lost a lot of respect for Angelo. Because there are a few busy places around Toronto nobody should fish in the entire province. He can go F himself. I will never watch his show again

I remember a young officer that patrolling the back roads around Water valley and spotted some young kids trespassing on the far side of a pasture. After walking across a cow patty covered and muddy field in the dark, he reads the teens the riot acts. As he is talking an adult male walks up with a flash light and asks if there is a problem.

The kids were 100 yards from the house, having a weekend camp out in the back of the horse paddock.

The big issue with some of these "over reach charges" is that to contest the charges you have to apply for a court hearing. Right now in my neighborhood for a simple POT for a Highway Traffic Offence you need to drive to an office to apply for a court date and those offices are presently CLOSED. The court's are automatically extending the 15 days to apply for a court date with a possible re opening of the court offices in the future.

Its a mess right now and I think the government is hoping the citizens simply "pay the fines". IMHO the LEO,s should be giving warning's as much as possible because the system for contesting these charges is basically shut down right now and I can see lot's of folks getting convicted ex parte and in the future having to jump thought loops to re open cases.

Bogus charges happen quite often I have had 3 over the years. Two were dropped before I even made it to court. Crown called me because the charges didn't even make sense.
Cop was reprimanded for making stuff up. The third one was to far away for me to go to court would have taken a day off work and cost me slightly more then the fine so I sucked it up. Non hunting related
