Let's not split hairs here Mike. The general idea of the thread is having a firearm out if its case, (and even loaded) outside of legal hours. Whether you are in your blind 2 km back in the bush or alternatively walking from that blind to your vehicle or house, or the other way around in the morning is not the key point here.
Re-read the question Mike: "Who amongst us law abiding darlings and angels, un-case's and loads their rifle prior to legal shooting time half hour before sunrise?"
There have been a few examples given from the real world where COs were out in the dark, far from main roads checking people for this. To say it won't happen has been shown to be inaccurate.
Now, whether someone wants to admit to this on an open forum is their choice. Personally, I think this conversation is better had around a campfire with close, trusted friends.
If it’s uncased loaded means he’s willing to shoot it before or after legal. Period
As is most everything we read on the internet, and especially in anonymity, its to be taken with a grain of salt? This thread has deafened me with the sound of all the bibles being thumped?
Here's another confession that may or may not be true. The other evening, after leaving my stand, I realized the time and had to race to get to the liquor store before it closed at 6 PM! Probably was doing a few klics over the limit and I may or may not have slowed at a stop sign instead of doing a full stop. I'm a rebel without a cause.....:scream:
Let's go back to the very first response to this thread - maybe we should have stopped it there.
Also note that this thread is against community rule #1. Maybe that rule was created to protect people from their own stupidity.
Exactly..
But..not splitting hairs. The scenario has nothing to do with a situation where your walking, not in the parking lot, not sitting on the shore line where they can paddle up to you. But sitting in your stand/blind back where you hunt. A place where the chances of a CO walking up to your blind at 5:30 am, in the dark and check to see if your rifle is encased is ‘0’.
The scenario that is alluded to; when you are in your stand/blind at 5:30 am, settled in, do you uncase your rifle and chamber a round (put on the safety ?) and lay it across your lap and wait till legal hunting time.
OR do you sit in the blind, with the gun cased until the minute it’s legal, then open the case and load your rifle.
as it turns out , BM is right..lots of Halo’s..
