Its just human nature, I have all the serial numbers of my guns because I have all the old registrations and would be embarrassed not to have them for a police report. My son on the other hand would not have a clue of his gun's numbers, I think you could see that across the population, same pattern. IMHOQuote:

Rural homes are rarely,if ever,B&E'd to steal firearms,specifically. Honestly,I had never seen it or heard of it (at least while I was serving). More than anything,crooks were looking to steal tools,farm equipment or vehicles. Rural crooks know that there's a very high probability of getting shot at by an irate farmer,the main reason they wait until no one is around. They also know that when or if seen,there's no easy means of escape and the likelihood of being recognized is quite high. Farmer's dogs can be very problematic for them,too. OPP and Regional Police services get to know who the retards are and can almost guarantee who pulled the pisser as soon as they get the occurrence. That was the beauty of community policing for us. A week hardly goes by up my way when firearms are not stolen along with other property. I am pretty sure places are specifically targeted as guns are easy to sell. Rural crook's are not stupid, an empty driveway or no foot prints in the snow is a dead give away, a knock on the door to ask directions and Bob's your uncle.

You may be partly correct regarding "homes", but up this way, it's a good mix of homes and/or cottages/camps. Not sure what the scum are targeting but invariably firearms are reported stolen, as well as the usual, tools, etc.Quote:
