Some thoughts.
~The people of the world worship some 5,000 gods (roughly fact). Don't worry "Joe" (tongue in cheek, not you singularly Joe), only yours is right.
~Good to see, like a lot of world, the current Pope get's it,
~Pope Francis.Quote:
It is not necessary to believe in God to be a good person. In a way, the traditional. Notion of God is outdated. One can be spiritual but not religious. It is not necessary to go to church and give money — for many, nature can be a church. Some of the best people in history do not believe in God, while some of the worst deeds were done in His name
Who knows, I certainly can't see the future but it started only about 20years ago. Today, there is a huge and growing segment of the worlds "society" is turning to spirituality (Bhuddism, Hindu (Namaste) anyone?, Paganism is resurging and Yoga and meditation, more)) and hopefully somewhere down the road the vast bulk find it and there is no more religion.
Period

How many (peaceful) years did it take the catholic church to get there?
And now look at where the Islam is heading at the moment, and the issue becomes clear!
It took the western society a century to overcome religious/Christian dogmas mostly due to scientific evolution. Down there, they are wiping out absolutely anything that reminds of a civilized past and a culture that was not solely centered around religion.
ISIS is a band of thugs ! They should be treated as such plain and simple or shall we let history repeat itself. Maybe they don't wear brown shirts or black shirts or white sheets with hoods but we're basically dealing with the same problem. As for the refugees ? YES I say ! We must do something. WE ARE CANADIANS ! If "we" do not attack the problem and help the suffering then "we" as Canadians should all hide our faces in shame !
Lest we forget !
Your concept of "Canadianism" is not Canadian at all - it's a Torontoism - and what goes on in Toronto is NOT what goes on in the rest of Canada. Toronto might as well be a separate country.
Canada's demographic ideal is the 'mosaic' with several distinct cultural backgrounds retaining their culture over several generations.in Canada. This is compared to the US 'melting pot' where second generation immigrants abandon their culture and become americanized.
We should be taking on double of what JT wants. The size of canada there's no reason we shouldn't. If Germany can take 800 000 this year surely we can do better with our size and resources. These people are fleeing ISIS, if they don't follow Isis's ways they are killed. I'm sure people had the same argument 150 years ago when a million Irish refugees came here.
Isis has been foot training for many years. They have around along time training why was nothing ever done before this year. Why alow them to get so big before they take any action.
Plus on another note most terrorist keep there word . If we kept out of this there would probably never ever be an attack on Canada. If they say they to blow up the malls look out cuz they do do what they say.
Thats all I need to say.if we want to help in the fight we aĺ better watch out because they have no other meaning in life .
They are nothing but scum.
I absolutely disagree. Canada has the widest and most far-ranging refugee immigrant policy in the western world. What screws us is our damn bureaucracy and red tape. Then again,we sure can't save everybody. The other thing that galls me to no end is politicians that use a terrible incident to gain opportunistic political electioneering points on the back of victims. That,I find reprehensible.
agree 100% on the political opportunism. JT was quick to do exactly that. On the other hand as for refugees, these are legit cases. Victims of ISIL and wealthy nations should be helping as much as possible. The USA with its 10x larger economy and population is basically off limits to these refugees. That great human being and Nobel prize winning "Obama" sure doesn't walk the talk.
Yes, you're right: The "Canadianization" is completely different in rural areas and large cities (not only Toronto).
Rural areas are white. How many white immigrants do we currently get? Nobody wants to stick out like a sore thumb. Add to that the fact that they are economically not very attractive (for newcomers), and you'll see that very few will go to rural areas. Those who do, will blend in in no time and will not change the mentality one bit.
In cities it's the opposite; the rate of change is rapid and there is no connection between cities and rural areas anymore. This is where our problem is in the future!
If you look to the south, you have black vs. white, in the far north you have native vs. white, but areas like Southern Ontario, where you have a big rural land mass and a mega city like the horseshoe we're getting into a relatively new problem.
