Guesses for first day on ice?

Just drove by lake scugog. No open water but from a quick glance doesn't look too safe. Lots of rain this weekend and warm weather unfortunately. But after that I think we are in the clear for cold weather!

Around here some small lakes have 3-5" but the snow makes it slow to freeze. Going to rain all weekend to melt the snow and then winter will start. A week from now the lakes SHOULD be fine.

So this upcoming weekend. Are we thinking it will be safe? I'm thinking a lot of guys will be heading out after this freeze. Peterborough area.

Buddy of mine just texted me and said his permanent hut is going out this weekend, they had 8” of clear ice on Sunday and this week will add a bunch more. His lake is pretty shallow though, this is half hour north of Kingston.
