I bought the Excalibur bulldog 400 last year and I have lots of time to hunt in the fall/winter, so it sits cocked for usually 7 hours ish a day around for a good chunk of a month. Never had any issues, in fact nothing but praise. This thing is insanely powerful, buck two days ago was a double lung, and it broke a rib on each side and buried so deep in the ground i never found it again despite bringing a heavy rake the next day.

Right after posting this I went on Cabela's website and they have a sale on the Excalibur G340 so I ordered one. They are much like the Axe you mentioned. I like the longer limbs to absorb the stress of the 230 lb draw weight.
It will arrive while I am north next week hunting whitetail but look forward to hunting with it after the shotgun hunt in Dec.
I'm still using my original Wolverine, and my wife has a Phoenix. Don't know why you need anything more. 25 to 28yds max. range and the deer is dead every time. I'm not even sure if the wolverine even does 280ft/sec. Maybe the biggest problem is that a lot of hunters aren't picking their shooting locations well, or they don't know how to sit still! Most of the deer we've taken with a crossbow were 8-15yds, and all have been shot from the ground.
