I am planning to put together some handloads for it again this winter just to give it another shot, but I have become quite frustrated with the 30-30 and/or this rifle. Because I can't get decent accuracy out of my handloads, I never bring it deer hunting anymore, so I've never taken a deer with it. I'm sure it would do just fine, as long as I could hit where I aim.
Lever actions are definitely a lot of fun to shoot though. I'm considering replacing mine with a 22 lever action - in my mind, that would be about the most fun combination you could find.
