Pretty much the same for me,hoping this year to bait and take my first bear.I have chosen a spot as close to the road legally as possible and hope for a good shot and it drops close by.I do have people to call up there with an ATV if its really a problem.

Bears being timid does not seem to be a problem up my way,I have them on trail camera within 200 yards of the roadway which is little traveled.Managed the other day to pick up a two 5 kilo containers of Molasses for $5.00 a piece from Club Warehouse,the containers were
expiring on the 20th Jan 2020 so got them for half price.
I have never really been real interested in bears or bear meat and my main motivation is predator control as I know these guys take fawns and calf,s given half a chance. It will be interesting to try a few recipes for the bear meat,I am also within driving distance of Ralph,s butcher shop in Norwood..

No thanks, I am not one of those "macho " guys, I even use a kids cheap plastic purple toboggan to haul out my deer, I even call for help sometimes, that's when my cell phone comes in handy, , and my buddy come by with his 4x4, that's what friends are for.

Warning, after eating bear, you may not care much to eat dear. The last few bears we shot were as close to beef as red meat could be.

That is absolutely right , I to prefer Bear meat over the Deer meat ...

You'd think maybe the CBC could've reported on the bear "Dump Sites" that were created as a result of the spring bear hunt cancellation. You know, all the cubs that were orphaned from the hundreds if not thousands of bears that were killed and dumped over the 20 years for reasons like simply crossing invisible property lines. That should've fell directly at the feet of animal right yahoos. Nope, not with our media it won't.
The same scum that are trying to prevent a full reinstatement were the ones responsible for having the hunt cancelled in the first place and that includes the CBC and their propaganda. It was lies then and continues to be lies today.
The MSM has created a knowledge production crisis, sadly it's not that hard to see why some people can be so F'N stupid.

Does size matter in relation to meat quality,smaller better, larger stronger.....

I've been posting the stories of my group's spring bear DIY efforts for a few years now, and think I showed this one off last spring. One of the guys bought this gorilla cart from TSC(or maybe Princess Auto?) and it worked great for both baiting and hauling bears, with or without an atv. Rated for 1200lbs
