CWTF supports the petition, good stuff.
Have any other organizations released their stance on the petition?? Maybe before everyone jumps ship we should look at what the alternatives opinions/stances are on the subject. Is delta waterfowl backing the petition?? I’m sure they are but and statements like cwtf?
It is disappointing that DU Canada won't even share links to the petition and proposed legislation. They wouldn't have to say they support it either way.
I'm quoting the following from another forum. I've confirmed it's true
"One of DU's board members from Saskatchewan, James E. Couch holds a seat on the Canadian Advisory Committee.
The purpose of the Committee is to provide advice to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness on pragmatic measures to reform Canada’s firearms policies, laws and regulations to ensure a modernized firearms regime that will keep Canadians safe and safeguard their rights and freedoms in an open and democratic society.
am appalled that DU has not stepped up to share in this process.
Thousands of DU members are firearms owners and the sweeping legislation which may occurred is something which will affect all firearms owners which in turn will have an effect on conservation and wildlife management."
[COLOR=#505050]Dear Waterfowl Hunters,
The Canadian Liberal Party is, once again, making plans to bring in new gun restrictions. This includes creating a list of semi-automatic rifles that would be banned based on appearance rather than function. The party is also considering a "buy back" program for these guns. In addition, it is looking at enabling municipalities to create local handgun bans.
While these actions may appear on the surface to be doing something to make our country safer, we feel that these efforts are likely to be ineffective, costly and negatively impact innocent, responsible gun owners. There are many more important issues to consider when trying to address violent crime and the criminal misuse of firearms. Just like the former gun registry, these new efforts will be expensive, burdensome, offensive to responsible firearms owners, and ineffective at reducing violent crime.
Please review this article from our partners at OFAH, and consider voicing your perspective by signing the petition and contacting your MP.

The Duck Hunters Organization™
Great, thank you mkunk!
Make sure to run out and purchase a www.ducks.ca/ontarioguncalendar oh wait...... That's kinda hypocritical isn't it??
Every single shot gun on that Calendar page are on the list of fire arms to be banned.
Maybe DU does not realize, that if Liberal gun control laws stop hunters from hunting, they will lose too.
If there is little to no duck hunters, then there is little to no need for conservation organizations.
Sporting goods manufacturer donations dwindle, memberships dwindle, funds for conservation dwindle, wetlands dwindle, and waterfowl and wildlife numbers dwindle.
When the money from hunting related spending dries up, so will the money for Conservation.
For arguments sake, let's imagine that everything in your post comes to fruition. The only way to compensate for the destruction of conservation funding is a general income tax increase of around 8%. Can you just hear the whining, yelling and screaming from the anti gunners/hunters,then? We should mention that in our campaign. Do you think that would get their attention?
