Pit Bulls

I personally really dont care what breed the dog is they can all bite and some do kill .I personally have a 110 pound boxer and unless my dog was defending my self or my family from a attacker and bites some one for no reason well guess what he isn't going to see tomorrow and that is how I see any dog if it aggressive for apparent reason it should be destroyed no questions asked. I personally live in the country I can discharge a firearm during legal shooting hours and if I am on my property and see a dog on my property threatening myself or family I don't care who's dog it is its not making it of the property without receiving a winchester pension. I like all breeds of dogs and they all get 1 chance but at the first sign of unwarranted aggression they need to be destroyed as its not worth someone getting bit or worse.

That is not exactly true and why the legislation is so badly written because in the definition section is the following

(e) a dog that has an appearance and physical characteristics that are substantially similar to those of dogs referred to in any of clauses (a) to (d); (“pit-bull”)

I have one experience with a pit bull. A bunch of my famnily were sitting on the deck for a family BBQ. It flew out of nowhere and grabbed a golden retriever that was on-leash by the neck and proceeded to try and kill it.

My uncle saw it happen, ran down, smashed it over the head with a beer bottle, then a piece of 2x4 a few times, grabbed it and chucked it as hard as he could into the ditch nearby (my uncle is huge). The punk owner of the pit bull who weighed about 140lbs soaking wet tried to fight my uncle for "hurting" his dog; thank god my aunt was there to restrain my uncle or he'd of been in trouble. The elderly owner of the golden retriever was basically in shock the whole time. Police were called at this point.

When I was a teen, a Sheppard did the same to our poodle. Did some serious damage to neck vertebrae. We did him a favor a put him down.

German Shepard’s, statistically aren’t that far behind Pitbulls.

Don’t mistake me, while I have nothing against them, I’m not against regs. In the hands of irresponsible owner they are loaded guns.

chows chows are viscous beast. Thankfully, they’ve never become a fad....

I can certainly agree, I would trust any dog with a mastiff bloodline before I'd trust a Sheppard.

The Chow Chow, well.... if you looked like that, you would be vicious too!

My buddy has a Cane corso/pitbull/Bull mastiff that he only got because of its mean tough look.


Dog is absolutely great , well trained when inside the house or up north away from anyone else.

That dog sees any other animal or person its not familiar with as a threat and will attack at first given chance. I seen it turn its deminor on a dime and go into full kill mode on a Newfoundland dog that got too close to its yard. Lucky the other dog got away as I dont think it would survive.

I really like the dog as he's great with me but I don't trust him at all and wouldn't have my dog around it and I told my buddy if it ever attacks anyone or anything and I see it the dog is getting a bullet. He understands.

I believe that's 99% in the dog breed and not the training. The dog is well trained but I don't think you can turn that kill mode off when it clicks on.

Based on the statistical findings on dog attacks and the propensity of certain breeds to be untrustworthy......I agree 100%.

When we got our boxer a couple weeks ago, we looked at an American Bull dog blue tick. As well as an absolutely gorgeous 18 month brindle Bull Mastiff.

Nope. We have too much company, including friends that bring their dogs for my liking and this thread.

Bull Mastiff. We almost pulled the trigger. I love that breed along with a couple others. Decided I didn’t want to clean up the land mines they leave :)..

Another breed way too many people get, because they look great etc are husky’s. Few understand their needs/breed, they also statistically are up there for attacks. And are a dime a dozen at rescues.

The best dog I ever had was a Husky/Shepherd cross. She guarded us 24/7 and didn't miss a trick. She watched the grandkids from when they were toddlers. If they went too close to stairs,she'd block them and if the persisted,she'd knock them over and them bark to get someone's attention,but,no matter what,the kid wasn't going near the stairs. We always knew whom we could trust when they came to the house. If the dog didn't trust someone,she'd sit quietly by us,but,wouldn't take her eyes off the person and always sat at the alert. We knew that person couldn't be trusted and governed the situation accordingly. She lived to the ripe old age of 12 (senior citizen in big dog years) when she got cancer and passed. We miss her to this day.
