I understand that the majority of fentanyl is going into usa from elsewhere . Also knew Canadians are worse off financially but as for the Americans they have slipping fast under the Biden administration. So the numbers are good to show when as they had more savings a few years back. I guess that's the problem with know what the people have.

You'd think that securing our boarders would be a benefit to everyone including Canadians. 102 ems calls responding on average per day to our overdoses in 2023 . How many guns and other drugs are coming across. We have our own problems related to the boarders it would of been nice to actually work on a problem for once.

Trump threatened Columbia too but instead they worked together and 0 tarrifs.

Panama is working deals it may revoke a deal with China. 2 wins no tariffs just worked together.

What would be better for Canadians? A secure boarder or an economic war when many can't rub a few hundred dollars together. I hear most still need to renew their mortgage this year they will be paying more leaving them with less already.

A country has the right to be self sufficient- to produce what it wants and needs - the U.S. is now importing much more than it exports and as a result the wealth of the country is leaving - how do you stop this trend - by adding to the price of what is being brought in - yes there will be some pain as things settle themselves out but something had to be done- - our debt is approaching 37 trillion dollars - Trump is a smart guy when it comes to business - he knows what he is doing- I agree with Trimmer - there isn't much Fentanyl coming in from Canada but he needs an excuse to use the war powers act to establish the tariffs -

I read where some Canadians threaten to cut off the delivery of electricity to some parts of the U.S. right at the start of the Super Bowl - bad idea - this could cascade into a very large black out and start a war - an excuse to invade Canada and make it the 51st state -

After ten years of crapping on the Canadian flag now Justin Trudeau is wrapping himself in it. I don't feel an ounce of "patriotism" for his post national state.

The only way Canada can prevail in this dispute is to visit maximum pain on individual Americans. Tariffs won't cut it but embargoes might. Stop all potash shipments to America. We supply almost 90% of potash to America. They can't grow sufficient food and feed crops without it and can't easily replace it from other sources. Then stop all grain shipments to the U.S. and let their cattle starve and American bellies go empty.

It would be devastating for farmers and potash miners in Canada but no worse than what will happen to auto workers in Ontario. Our proudly feminist Prime Minister, however, is far too weak to even contemplate such a move.

This situation is actually a showcase of who "our" politicians THINK, we are.

I can not see ONE real reason why SOMEONE(with whom Trump would be willing to negotiate-he despises Trudeau for many reasons-mostly because he sees thru that guy)did not go to try to work out a deal for Canada?
He is a businessman, and we NEVER even tried to make a DEAL !!! Why ???

At the end of them negotiations-we could still LOOSE -and have the tariffs coming this way,but hey ,at least we would be able to tell the nation-we did everything we could,and got nowhere with it.
THEN hitting back would be something USA would look at with some" elements of respect".

I am afraid-Canada is actually missing some BIG CALIBER Politicians !!!

Blame other countries is the easiest thing to do. How about looking in the mirror and realizing your own US companies are doing the outsourcing to cheaper labour countries. Punish your own companies first, then look at it again. If you didn't import all the junk from China where most of it ends up in dumps after a short period, half the problem would be solved, you would be employing workers at home again.

I agree with you about U.S. companies going overseas for cheap labor but the tariffs will stop this because it will make their products more expensive and many will return to the U.S. - one thing you have to admit is that Trump is shaking up things - he is cleaning. house -

Trump is only asking Canada to provide more border security otherwise the USA will do it and pay for it out of tariffs. The Liberals do not like funding the security services (CBSA Police Military etc.) and hence are deflecting this whole issue to be a US vs Canada thing. All the booing and disrespect of the US reflects badly on Canada, it is not who we are.

The world has entered into a phase of global political conflict, which seems to be expanding. Typically in times of global unrest governments tend to be more Conservative, Liberal governments do best in times of extended peace. Canada needs a leader of men, one who puts the society of Canada first, there is only one political leader who currently reflects that standard.

Trump delayed tariffs on Mexico for a month because Mexico is giving in and ready to negotiate- Canada will follow - I go fishing a lot in Ontario and I remember one time coming back we made the mistake of hitting the border on a Saturday- when we got to the Thousand Islands bridge it was all backed up- like a parking lot - there was a cop directing traffic and I asked him if there was an accident- he said that this happens every week end - Canadians travel to the U.S. to buy everything a lot cheaper than what they have to pay at home - the shelfs in some of the big box are stripped by the Canadians - why buy Canadian when you can buy it a lot cheaper in the U.S. -

I could've sworn Trump said there was nothing Canada and Mexico could do to avoid tariffs. It sounds more to me like he is stalling because everyone called his bluff. Now he will have a month to figure out his supply routes and a different strategy.
