Has she said some things she shouldn't have? Of course she has but she is not alone in that department.

Sometimes the truth, or unpopular opinions, ruffles a few feathers, so be it. Better than saying or doing nothing !

My son lives in her riding and I talk to a lot of people there that absolutely love her. At least she has a voice and the gumption to use it.

If one always try's to walk the politically correct line , to appease everyone, nothing will be accomplished. Lord knows, we already have enough of them, we do not need more!!

No my dislike for her is from the disdain she shows for her constituents in the form of mouthing off the most inane tripe in session, by being one of the longest serving MPs, yet never achieving a cabinet position of any note, of refusing to answer any ANY questions that are put to her straight, to the point that she completely avoids any debates where she is unable to control who is on the panel.

The only reason anyone EVER mentions voting for her was her stance on gun control. NOBODY can point to anything she's done. Under her time in office, Renfrew County has not gained an ounce in quality of life, reduced joblessness or improved by any other factor one typically uses to judge an MP.

It's one thing i've never understood, but voters in Renfrew County must really love being jobless and living off the gov't tit.

I can tell you a few things she actively did to HURT her constituents:

She actively fought the formation of the Pembroke Farmers' Market, asking local business owners to refuse any support, refused to provide any funds to the market board for building a permanent structure, and when the market founders had finally raised enough funds to complete building and launching the market she refused to attend the ribbon cutting. MPP Yakabuski stepped in to save the face of the local Cons.

She's mouthed off regarding PTSD in the military - hundreds of suffers of which are her constituents

After taking an initially strong stance against the windmill & solar projects that were being approved in the mid-2000s, she's gone quite silent on it the last 2 years and there are several massive projects that seem to now be getting her approval.

CFB Petawawa gets it's funding depending on the units stationed there. Decisions which MP Gallant has absolutely nothing to do with. In fact, the only thing she's done for CFs, is stir up crap with her comment that there's no stigma within the CFs against those suffering PTSD.

When they had me in the holding cell in emirates air dubai was I some glad to hear her voice in THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT est time doing what she could and I might add did help tremendously to get me out. She has more than lead Canadas right to bare arms movement, plus as has been mentioned turned Petawawa base from ruins to riches. Her poo poo don't tink :thumbup:

I can't really believe you posted that...
The units that get stationed there are a result of federal MPs lobbying the decision makers for various military units to be stationed at bases in their ridings. They don't just pull these out of a hat.

You're more than a little naïve about politics if you believe that the government decision to dump the money they did into Petawawa was a random one. Federal money gets spent in particular ridings for a reason.

As far as federal MPs that don't make cabinet, former RNP MP Len Hopkins (LIB) would hold the record for that. What keeps Gallant out of cabinet is here nature to say what's on her mind, not what's politically correct - another character trait valley people see as being positive.

For a guy that grew up in the valley, you seem out of touch with the people up there.
