Unless chasing a crippled bird.

I find it hard to believe that some are still trying to defend such an unsafe act, legal or illegal. I can think of no possible scenario where discharging a firearm from a boat under power is safe (rather a recipe for disaster).
I believe someone posted the reg that stated any reasonable means
I can think of no bird worth mine and my buddies well being, I can clearly see others do not see things this way and ere on the side of caution.................scary really.
We just so happened to have been pulled over this morning by a federal wildlife officer... According to him a crippled migratory bird is still being hunted. A firearm cannot be loaded or discharged from a boat under power and all other hunting regulations must be followed to retrieve the bird including legal shooting time (for evening hunters retrieving birds after dark).
Here is his contact information

Shooting at a crippled migratory bird is still hunting, you cannot hunt from a motor vehicle, under the federal migratory bird act we are given an exemption for hunting from a power boat as long as the motor is off and the boat has ceased it's forward momentum. We are also allowed to retrieve birds with the power boat.... I don't know how much simpler it can get? Please contact the wildlife officer or provide the contact information of these wildlife officers that you have hunted with.
