Its a bit on the small side but I can live with that. Makes me think of fit of Rem Model Seven.

Just held the howa & T3 in my hands about an hour ago. Both great options but the feel of the T3 in a gorgeous grey wood grain was noticeably better. Sleek, light, looks...mind you the Howa came with a mounted good quality scope & has the hogue stock (apparently very good quality). Both 3 MOA guns. Matter of whether you want to spend double. $765 howa with scope, $1499 without on the T3. If money was no issue i.d own the T3 (i walked away to ponder the very dilemma). Unfortunately have never shot either so no field experience to note. In fact, i had no knowledge of the Howa name prior to today. Good luck in the search
Have no experience with Howa (heard good things about them though) however never had a Tikka don't shoot with the right ammo.
Unless you have to have wooden stock otherwise T3X with synthetic stock can be had for not much more than a Howa.
Both are good.
I prefer T3.
And to song dog - buy a 6.5x55
Really liked mine.
6.5 CM is a nice round but I prefer the SE 6.5x55 and I drove mine pretty hard with no pressure signs.
I own an older Tikka Whitetail Hunter and it's the smoothest bolt I've ever owned. The T3 seems as good. I have no experience with Howa but am seriously considering one of their mini-actions in .223 Remington. If there's one knock on the T3 is that it only comes in one action length in a short cartridge like the 6.5 Grendel or .223 the Tikka leaves a lot of extra real estate to carry around.
