Thank you folks for attempting to do what Gilroy and his fellow Canadians cannot. It appears that any attempt at a definition puts "assault rifles" in the "already banned" category doesn't it?

We have been collectively failed by the big gun organizations who seem more committed to continued foolishness in an attempt to attract public attention and member dollars. When you are in a minority position a list of extreme demands followed by "No Compromise!" isn't going to get you anywhere.

The bright spot is OFAH. While I haven't always agreed with it it should be held up as the gold standard of Canadian outdoors organizations. It isn't offensive, works equally well with all governments, will fight if required, understands compromise, does not tolerate illegal or offensive conduct and can point to concrete achievements on our behalf. But sign on to Gunputz.com, mention liking OFAH and see what the reaction is.

I agree with your post save and except the OFAH is not politically biased,they have shown in the past they are a very Conservative based organisation and it has actually cost hunters in the long run (spring bear ban).They seem to always manage to invite leaders of the Conservative party to speak at conventions.The Liberal government who re instated the hunt got scat mention for doing so.
But I see from their past press releases they are coming around and trying to have hunters come together.

I think most people can look at a Ar 15 and a 30.06 Remington semi auto and can tell you which one is an assault rifle and which one is a hunting rifle.They can also tell you which one should not be in the hands of civilians and which one should.This simple narrative is all that is
needed for the majority of voting Canadians.

I agree that the public confidence in the RCMP and most other Police services are way down.Most police officers are "marking time" and have been doing so for a long time.Nobody these days want to walk in the big public housing complexes and get to know the bad guys,those days are over.That is a failure of police management in deployment and public criticism over issue,s like carding.

Officers are second guessing themselves even in the use of their service guns make a mistake and you end up like officer Furillo doing time
minimum mandatory,thanks to previous Conservative legislation.
