Airports are a whole different (and political) matter, and while I must travel for work, I don't have to support or extend our growing surveillance society into my private recreational life. I will vote for any party that runs on a platform of dismantling the security theater sham at our airports.
Either way, security screening at a public venue or an airport cannot be compared to a store putting a checkout at the back of the store and then systematically casting suspicion over paying customers at the exit.

It can be "compared" to the extent that it's an inconvenience and they both are. Yeah the reasons for them are very different. Its still an inconvenience and I for dont enjoy waiting to clear customs, all I want to do is get out and home.....then when its my turn, having to hope they dont search my bags looking for a bottle or food Im not supposed to bring back....I can choose to let it get under my skin, or not.
So are many other things, like being carded after waiting in line. Rev Can randomly selecting your tax return out of the millions, likewise isn't an assualt on your character and is no less an inconvenience. Now you need to dig up receipts, package it all neatly, mail it off. It to is an inconveinience like so many other things. Jury duty.
Ride spot checks. Do get your blood up or T off on an officer (not suggesting you T off on the cashier) thats randonmly waived you to the side of the road. Gosh darn, you just want to get home, catch the last period, kiss your child good night....or crawl into bed yourself...
They are little things we put up with. Whether you continue to shop there or not is your choice and one way to deal with it. Just as you feel its an afront, and it gets under your skin, to others it wont or they simply choose not to let it, . It not even a minor hiccup worth blinking over.

Lol Im Irish so dont assume my blood doesnt get up. I've just learned after 20 years in a stressful job, and too many health complications to name not the least of which was heart palpations at 36 and more and all of them related to stress (including a tumor) to "pick my battles".
Many who know me, have called me Mr non chalant, aloof, Mr la, la, la. Accurate enough at times.
But when Dr after Dr is telling you before the age of 40 your a walking heart attack and then have some pretty hairy stuff occur within the span of 6 months and coming really close to checking out by 44.
You learn you have the choice to let things affect you......................or not.

Good way to look at it JB. I'm with the OP on this though. Airports/concerts etc., those are security issues. The collective safety of many is the goal there. Basically getting the equivalent of a polite pat-down leaving a store~an entirely different matter. I don't get my hackle-up (isn't the store clerk's policy) I just don't shop there again in the future. It isn't a matter of inconvenience for me, it's the feeling that there is some assumption that I've stolen something. I resent that, plain and simple. The store won't sink or swim based on whether or not I shop there, but it seems unlikely that there are only 2-3 people who find the practice offensive. If there was great customer service/selection/pricing I could weigh that against my sensibilities and maybe see things differently...but since that ain't the case, the store is simply a sign I see on the side of the 400.Quote:

I wonder why this thread hasnt been shut down. There was a thread a while back about someone reporting about a bad shopping experience they had at the shooters choice gun room and it got shut down very quickly. Something about not being allowed to make negative comments about businesses for fear of being sued or some nonsense. Maybe shooters choice is an OOD sponsor and sail is not?

I guess you people do not shop at costco, they search all the bags going out their doors. And you must be a member with a card, to get in to shop. I think most stores will be going in this direction, but you could always shop on the internet.
