It helps to be in walking distance from good habitat and a 5 minute drive from great spots.

Just when I thought that they where gone found 2 today. After not finding any the last couple times out went to another spot that usually holds a few. After stomping at the spots that previously held didn't move a thing. Took a short cut across the field when the pup got a bit birdy ( okay maybe and over description, curious would be a better description) when a woodcock flush from under a shrub. Bit more looking around the open field produced another bird under a hydro tower. Nice to see them just odd to find them out in the open.

I also found two after leaving the bush on my way out in an open field, both within 15 yards of a single shrub.
Both flushed very quickly as dog was locating them
The ground they flushed from had thick grass so not sure how they get to the worms
Flushed one down around Leamington, this past Friday.
I saw 1 last Sun' just south of Lake St. Peter on the old railbed during my Ranger ride.
