My take on this exactly. Call me a horrible person but I'll never accept going hunting spend time out have a few bad or negative experiences and calling it a waste. Hunting like life you got to take the good with the bad. Especially with the bad embrace the experience devise a plan to minimize the impact and move on with your head held high.
For Gern here is where I'll throw him some slack. As hunters we all have experiences that can be passed on to one another just because one can't get out doesn't mean they don't have knowledge to pass on. I get having limited occasions getting out when balancing the pressures and responsibilities of life especially when you are just staring out. It will be a rough decade with your up coming life. Marriage, kids, planning for your retirement all things that will and need to take precedence before you can invest in recreation. If turkey hunting holds no interest you now know next year allocate your resources to something you will really enjoy rain or shine. Just don't call your learning experience a waste as really it gives it a negative connotation to your experience.
