It was nice to see you guys again. Please post with the results of the rabbit hunt! I didn't have time this morning to get my gear together, so I couldn't make it for that portion of the get together.

Just a quick 'Thank You' to all those who came out and to GW for getting the ball rolling and organizing the breakfast. As always a great opportunity to chat 'live' face to face with guys in the area that share the same passions.
and ..how did the Bunny Wabbit shoot go..any luck ?
HAHA..rabbit hunt..chase...miss...scare miss. We got about 60ft off the trail to old range at E7. I was on east side of road and first 3 steps into bush and cottontail took off. 3 shots, no chance. Was just not expecting to see a rabbit that soon. Went up the road to range and GW spooked a big Jack all white that did not bolt, but kinda just hopped across the road. I let one fly at that and missed, that was the first Jack I had seen in 3 years...and missed. We spread out to try and flush him again with no luck. Another 2 km of walking the back trails and stop for a chat or two and seen nothing the rest of the morning/afternoon. GW found a big ole porcupine about 30ft up a tree. I was surprised by the lack of songbirds and even squirrels, plus never seen a single crow. Any time in the bush with good guys is fun, we did a lot of brush stomping. Jason saved the day once we got back to road with a fresh pot of coffee in a thermos. All in all, could have had two if this guy wasn't a bad shot....lol
The white one would have been a varying hare. They are the ones that turn white in the winter. If you also saw a brown one, that would have been a cottontail rabbit, and would have been a good meal - they are much tastier than hares in my opinion. I don't believe that there are jackrabbits in this area.
Glad you guys had fun haha. Couldn't agree more with that as long as you're in good company everything is fun :)
Yep, varying hare, some of them can get pretty big up here, nothing like a European hare in SW Ontario but they make a cottontail look like a baby.
Great seeing everyone again, finally over this flu, maybe I can try for a rabbit hunt soon enough too but Saturday was a bad day for it for us.
Sounds like you guys had fun, hopefully I can make it next time!
Aw, man... I can't believe I missed this. I recently moved to Kemptville. Last breakfast I went to was a long drive for me. Now it's right around the corner.
Next time...
I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you..hopefully we will see you the next time.
Sorry I couldn't make it guys. Glad you all had a great time. Maybe next time. Cheers.
