The police have a better chance of getting with this action by using the fear for their lives...as opposed to a homeowner.. that was my point. Not a political statement. For the record, I believe in firearms rights without restrictions for defence of property and life. If that happens, you can always hold them at gunpoint until police arrive. It is called common sense and moral stance with legal rights...something you do not have right now. I want the choice to be in control of my property, my destiny and the efforts of my lifes work. Having the right is the problem (you don't), exercising that right is your choice. We have no choice to that right, right now.
Yes you do have a choice, but you must be prepared for the consequences of your actions....as always.
Oh, gosh, you've got me there. I haven't read the Wikipedia entry on Castle Doctrine.
See, I get my knowledge of the history of the Castle Doctrine and its recent expansion in the United States from other sources, which I guess are probably not as good as Wikipedia. You know, sources like Blackstone, various law review articles (Garret Epps and Jeannie Suk would be two law profs to follow), maybe the actual legislation itself? There are also several books specifically on how self-defence law in the US has departed from the English common law, such as No Duty to Retreat.
I'm not the one who has some reading to do.
Pardon me, I'm just spitballing here ... but could there be some middle ground somewhere between hugging a thug and shooting him dead?
Be careful what you wish for, the will of the people in Toronto,Ottawa,Vancouver,Montreal,Victoria, might be a complete ban on ALL GUNS.Now that is a pretty big voting blocks right there. The problem with the right including yourself is that you believe you are in a majority position. You are not and are lucky that first over the post has won you some elections.Take the Liberals and add the NDP if they could get their act together and you guys are toast each and every time.
Want a referendum on gun control in Canada or Castle Doctrine one vote per citizen, go ahead MAKE MY DAY.
Well, with a disapproval rating for libertarians of 99.75% , thankfully we have no fear of that.
