When is Ontario going to have a full out hog season.

Let's wait a couple of years to see if hunting or no hunting makes a difference. So far,the prevailing train of thought from western New York residents is that it doesn't because anecdotally,they're seeing more and more all the time with ensuing damage to crops and fields that they didn't have to deal with before. Anti-hunting "academics" can argue all they want in the short term,but,time will certainly tell and whoa unto them if they're proven wrong. American rural folks are NOT the forgiving sort,especially,when evidence is staring them in the face.

Thank you for the welcome and happy new year..... this is not to say I wouldn’t be darn interested in hunting hogs, goes without saying given my love of pork and bacon:)

Southern Ontario will be hog heaven when they finally hit. There is enough no firearm areas and anti hunter land owners around they will have a free pass to hide all day and travel to farm fields at night to feed and destroy everything.

Up northern Ontario the only way to hunt them will be drives with hounds or pushers as hogs will hide deep in swamps just like they do in Europe. Will hurt the deer population as well from what I read.

I'm all for more stuff to hunt but I can't see this being a good thing but hope I'm wrong.

Hunting cannot stop pigs once they establish.

Theres an episode of Meat Eater on Netflix where Steve goes to a ranch in Texas. The biologist in charge of the ranch kills thousands of pigs a year, mostly through trapping as hunting cant come close to the numbers trapping does. He cant stop them on that relatively small property.

Unless they come trotting over the bridges at Sarnia, Windsor or Niagara, I think we will see them first at Manitoba ? I think the StClair, Detroit and Niagara rivers are a bit wide and fast for them ?

Nothing stopping them when they have an ice rd lol.

Well this season will slow them down since we are not seeing much ice development.[emoji107]

Do they have a bounty on pigs in the USA? I wanted to hunt them and they wanted big money. Seems odd if they wanted rid of them.

They've been in Manitoba for years....more than likely already moved east into the bush areas around Kenora. The low population density up there and the fact they avoid contact would account for few sightings.

The problem the guy faces is like trying to dig a hole at the bottom of sand dunes. He's only allowed to dig at his feet and every shovel full of sand he takes out leaves a hole that is quickly fill from the dunes.

Like songdog has said. No matter were we hunt them here, there will be some idiot next door that is Anti-hunter, or a no Discharge area for them to hide in.

Night hunting with thermal or night vision scopes from elevated stands. Never going to happen, but we can hope.

Looks like someone is planning a very big BBQ.

Or maybe the Anti's are going to set them free to have a long happy life.......destroying crops.

Six months old, three hundred pounds...that is a lot of BBQ.
