Well for once we can agree on something, it is true that he was going to reform the voting system and indicated that he would abolish first past the post.
I voted for him on that basis and was very disappointed when he did not fulfill that promise. However I do not think he is afraid of a vote of non-confidence because I believe the NDP will vote against it.He has not and will not use this tragedy in NS for votes,he has simply answered
reporters questions to date with the available information to date.
I just saw a post on facebook where the said shooter was banned from gun ownership after an 02 assault conviction( may be fake news). Not that this provides any comfort to loved ones lost in this tragedy but certainly points out how ineffective punishing law abiding owners is. I see the police are getting pressure now for not issuing enough warnings to the public. Must be similar to the feeling legal gun owners have about being blamed for playing a part in these mass shootings. Prayers for Nova Scotia.
If he had the conviction in 2002 he could still apply for a PAL five years later. I believe the rational behind this is to allow people who had had problems with the law move on,take up their hunting again and what not. Most prohibition terms for firearms last for 5 years usually and only in severe cases a life time ban on firearms.
Exactly the point lol. He only talks about what he wants to . Before he even got the details of this tragedy. More gun control talk yet it doesn't seem like gun control would of made a difference. Including the danforth shooting that was a stolen hand gun from a gun shop. The point being is the shooter illegal obtained a firearm witch isn't that hard to do. Most people seeking to go on a rampage will find their own sources where ever they need to be it black market or legal firearms or stolen ones. Most domestic violence deaths would be by legally obtained firearms but not these assault weapons they want to ban. Most of the shootings in Toronto are made by illegal guns from across the border. Yet the doctors push for a law that will not help curb the gun violence. Too many are misinformed about what's really happening.

The Toronto Sun's article is totally out of context and the paragraph showing this is as follows:
"It would have been fine had the PM left it at that. Instead, he used this tragedy to start talking about his gun-control plans before the RCMP had even confirmed that all the bodies from this massacre had been found."
Prime Minister Trudeau did not simply start talking about this tragedy and gun control legislation,he was asked a question by a reporter, actually several reporters about when the gun control legislation was being enacted.
Would it have been reasonable on national television to "ignore the reporters question", I do not think so as we need the media to question the government.
Was it the RIGHT QUESTION for a reporter to ask at this time, NO in my humble opinion.
OTTAWA, Ont. — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government will strengthen gun control legislation as soon as possible.
As MPs debated in the House of Commons about how to facilitate a return to Parliament during the COVID-19 pandemic, Trudeau addressed Canadians Monday about the tragic shooting in Nova Scotia that left at least 18 dead on Sunday.
“Just how can this happen, we may never know why, but do know this, know one man's action cannot build a wall between us and a better day no matter how evil, how thoughtless and how destructive,” Trudeau said. “Canadians are kind and generous, we are there for each other and we look out for one another. As families grieve the loss of a loved one, all Canadians are standing with them.”
Responding to questions from the media amid renewed calls for stricter gun laws, Trudeau said he made serious commitments during the last election campaign regarding tightened gun control, and his government was on the verge of introducing legislation to ban assault-style weapons across Canada when the pandemic resulted in the suspension of Parliament. He said his government plans to pick up where it left off as soon as it has the opportunity to do so.
