Hunting grouse in Eastern Ontario is very difficult, it's not like up north. The fact you saw 5 grouse you were doing very well.

Agreed, you don't have to have it centred if you only have one tie point, just make sure it is tight. If you have towing hooks on the front they work good! I have a Rav and there are two on the front. I always use a strap across the rack and canoe in the middle for an extra comfort and disaster prevention and one rope in the back to the hitch and the canoe is ready to go.

... and good luck. it seems my chances to go out are disappearing fast and with no scouting I decide to try guided, other than one for ducks the guides I pinged for goose, deer and even bear ... all AWOL so far. Work kept me busy and weather off the water for fishing when I had the time ... heading that way again so... GO GET 'EM!. Cormorants make good fertilizer I hear too ... :-)
So I will be out for opener morning only. Gonna squeeze in the morning, head home for carpet and patio door guys coming. will be onsite at 0530. I am bringing two canoes (one for my agent who worked so hard to get this home and me. There is room for one more in the canoe. I havent unpacked life jackets yet.
NOTE: The water is very high and punching into reeds with canoe and stability is an issue to get set up. Dont want anyone in water first day, so be careful.
So did anyone get out hunting Today (Saturday)? My son and I were out building our tree blinds. The frame and floors are done for both all that's left are the railings, rope to pull the gun up and his ladder. Should finish tomorrow. Will try and do some duck hunting around my place if the water level is right in the river and maybe go out next week to Marlborough next week. Have to finish these blinds first.
Hey,
I spent both Saturday and Sunday in Marlborough. Unusually hot this weekend. Had some luck and lots of fun. I am currently researching into cooking recipes...
PS. I saw the OPS (Ottawa Police Service) in there today on two 4wheelers. The rumour is someone was sighting in a riffle in the pit. They didn't stop to talk to me. It felt really weird holding a loaded pump shotgun and having the police drive by smiling and waving...
Cheers
So I went out opening morning only...Not a soul in camp or on the ponds we hunt. All around me 4-5 minutes before legal shooting time, people started shooting. I sat there patiently waiting for alarm to go off before loading up. By that time 90% of the flights had flown out...
Ah! Bummer... What website do you use to get legal sunrise/sunset time? Pending Covid-19 test results kept me out of the game opening weekend, well, that and actually feeling quite under the weather on the Friday.
I still haven't had a chance to do a duck hunt in Marlborough yet this year but I was thinking of going for a night-hunt-overnight-and-morning-hunt sometime this week. Either Wednesday or Thursday.
Let me know
Just ask google what time is sunset or sunrise, it will tell you.
