Trudeau's allegiance

This will be interesting and a must watch. Trudeau is being cornered in declaring the recent events in China a genocide.
He has been trying to minimize it. About to blow up in his face.

"On Monday, the House is expected to vote on the motion. If passed it is likely to infuriate China. On Thursday, China said Canada committed a “despicable and hypocritical act “by this week signing on to a declaration denouncing state-sponsored arbitrary detention of foreign citizens for political purposes."


"A House of Commons subcommittee concluded in October that the situation does constitute a genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention, citing testimony about mass detention of nearly two million individuals housed in what witnesses described as concentration camps and who are subjected to psychological, physical and sexual abuse. They are also forbidden from speaking their language and practising their religion, subject to mass surveillance, forced labour, and “inhuman measures” to reduce the population, the committee found."

"Earlier this week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said while there are “tremendous human rights abuses” happening in Xinjiang, the word genocide is an “extremely loaded” one, and Canada should study whether the term applies in this case."

That, right there, is a chief reason I'm so "puzzled and concerned" about all things Trudeua/Liberals and China. In another thread, someone, can't recall who said "What can we do about it".
Answer; Lots. Can start with Soy and barley.

Another puzzling aspect, is that we are not the only country in the world with increasingly tense relations. Yet, we seem to be the only country China is really intimidating like the pansies we are.
So what gives

Well Having posed the question to you "what can we do about it"

Your answer seems a little inadequate, we cut of barley and soy ,could they now source it some where else and what would that do to our farmers.

Its like Erin's boycotting the Olympics' in Beijing suggestion, great for him but what about the athletes who might only get one crack at the games an have trained so hard.

I see it in practical terms Canada with 40 million soul's and China with about 1 billion more, economy of scale type of thing.

How many times through history, might you say there's been some type of conflict that didn't resort to some pain, for either side, or even clear cut winners?

And while things are rarely straightforward. How did you miss reading this. Honestly, sometimes I'm left.......

And do you really think Terry, that wee little old Canada is or would be the only country saying enough is enough. Do we not have allies? Other places that would happily buy our goods, while also giving China the gears?

Now your on the ball, we would need a lot of countries to join us in the problem.

Just curious, while that would be nice and almost a certainty. Do you see the US rolling over? Did you forget we can sell all kinds of stuff to the EU, and that China is just a very small part of trade balances.....Did you see or read that requirement in Burtons comments? Or did he say our passivity is making the situation worse ( usually happens doesn't it?) and that we have little to worry about trade retaliation because we hold the cards....

Do you think you know better than he? I mean he's just an expert on China amongst other things.
