Influencers to target you
They do exist and your tax dollars pay for them to argue with you.
"Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada want to change your mind about how you see these federal institutions and they plan on doing it by hiring social media influencers."
"The 44-page document detailing the contract says the posts should, “provide Canadians with targeted, timely, relevant, comprehensive and accessible information to assist them in making informed decisions to protect their health.”
"I don’t know about you but I’m more likely to look to social media influencers for tips on restaurants to visit, or day trips out of the city, not health advice. That said, based on the description, I’m not sure they really know what they are looking for with this contract."
"Don’t think this is all about COVID-19 or even has anything to do with the pandemic, Health Canada says in the document one of their core roles is to be an information provider and make sure Canadians are “protected from health risks associated with food, products, substances, and environments, and the benefits of healthy eating.”
"Now, if you happen to be an influencer, or think you are one, don’t go running to the Government of Canada website to apply just yet. The government isn’t hiring influencers directly. They are hiring an agency to do the work, which will include vetting anyone they do hire."
"In my view this is just an attempt by some bureaucrats to seem relevant as they try to convince you to eat more kale, drive slower and stop vaping. Chances of this working? About as good as Canadians taking this seriously."
