Lost my Beagle to old age. (Bloodhound in Feb)

My 12 year old beagle died on Sunday night. We had such a good weekend together and went in the house at 9pm and he went to his dogloo in garage instead of going in the house. Called a couple times and he never came in. After an hour I went out and found him dead. I am heartbroken as this was a once in a lifetime dog that acted human and understood everything. Can't even go in backyard and shoot my bows as it is lonely. Lost my Bloodhound(11) in Feb this year to old age. I have a huge yard all fenced in, dogloo's in garage, music playing 24/7 and lots of love in our hearts. May check some rescues for a beagle. To nice of a life and yard not to get another rambunctious baby beagle. CHEERS to all!

I know how you feel its like losing a good friend who was loyal to you to the end. I lost my beagle who I had for 17 years, he hunted right up until he passed away with the same vigor and enthusiasm as when he was a puppy, mind you he was a slow learner probably took him four years to run a rabbit properly and after that it was off to the races. All he had to hear was his hunting bell getting tied to the collar and I am pretty sure he would have driven the car to our hunting spots.
They are tough little buggers born to run and good pets, I am sure you will get a replacement hunting friend. I used to hunt up you way Kolapore Highlands, Roy Roy, Beaver Valley, all great spots for the
white ghost and the occasional cottontail.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my my black lab in March.13yrs..
We just rescued a dog from Redemption Paws. She is awesome..

Sorry for your loss Pal....there's nothing comparable to the love between a person and their dog. Sounds like the next lucky dog has an amazing place to live life at your place....

been thinking about getting a beagle for hunting, as my GF loves them too, soon hopefully.

Thanks all. We have a trailer and when I took Simba out the first time he walked out to road and put one foot in road and turned and looked at me and I said "back" he would lay down with his nose one inch from road. He did that on all 4 spots as it is a drive through site. Then he would not allow the other two dogs 4 feet from the roadways. LOL I have one beagle now and he is 11 years old and the healthiest dog over the years out of the three. Showing him lots of extra love as he seems confused being only one left of the brothers. Hardly wants to go out in yard anymore . CHEERS!

Lost my lab at 13 a year ago. It was so hard. I still get choked up when I think of him.

My Redbone is 16 and Walker will be 9. I can see the old in them now.


At least your pup didn't suffer and he knew when it was time and went and passed in his home. Really sucks when you loose your best friend. Condolences bud, RIP Simba

I know the pain. Lost my 7 year old black lab to cancer on Jan 12th 2021.

I now have a 4 month old chocolate lab puppy and she is coming along nicely!! :)
