duck and geese hunting on Lake simcoe from boat

Anyone hunt on lake Simcoe from a boat ?

I can not find any restrictions, other than away from shore, and shooting direction and general hunting safety ....

I plan to move the boat to Simcoe as I have a dock there as well. from sept till thanksgiving maybe, for hunting waterfowl. ill be in innisfill area, so hope to hunt the north/ west side of the lake.


Im currently docked DT Toronto, and it appears that no hunting is allowed all the way out to the US boarder ... unless I move east to newcastle area, which is a long boat ride out.

Hi, I personally havent hunted ducks in L. Simcoe yet, but cooks bay and the area off Mcrae point pp, are where people normally hunt ducks. You will see quite a few hunters in cooksbay closer to the holland river and the marsh as it is a very popular spot.

but cant figure out about boats, can I be anywhere on the lake ?!

I would check with the MNR, but my understanding is, as long as you are not shooting towards the shore, motor off, and a safe distance from the houses, you should be fine.

MNR didnt know
called OPP, they also didnt know.
called south simcoe police, they said as long as away from shore, and shooting opposite direction, ure fine.

time to find a camo wrap for the 27 foot boat lol

Yes as mentioned above but don't be that guy that anchors 40 yds out in front of someone's residence.

If your hunting from a 27ft boat, you might want to get a tender boat to retrieve, but you can also get out there in some nasty weather, that smaller boats can't handle, and when the birds are flying.

Who did that!?

I see birds all over the lake ... dont see a reason to be that close to shore .... do they move towards the shore in fall ?! maybe smaller boats scared to get out further.

Sooo many ducks on lake ontario outside the islands ... thousands and thousands of them, the marine police was not happy about asking them if I can hunt there though lol they were surprised by the question lol
