Tag transfer

Not wanting to hi jack the other thread on moose tag transfers, I thought I would start a new one regarding this, however
Im curious to see the outcome of the other situation. I understand this is a new system and I do like it better than the old system.

I have a question that I can not find the answer to and just thought Id ask this for a general discussion, not looking for a heated discussion, but the old system had a lot of this happening and I thought the new system would curb this. I do not know the whole story behind the other thread and not insinuating anything with this thread so my apologies if it comes across like that.

Im wondering if a transfer for health reason is allowed and lets say the hunter that has the health issue had 15 points and that was the minimum required points to be awarded a tag and no one else in his party has 15 points should he be allowed to transfer the tag to someone with lower points?
Kinda food for thought?

I haven’t seen anything that explains the process. It will be interesting to hear from the poster of the other thread. Since there is no group applications now, it stand to reason that the transferor would lose his points, and the recipient’s points would not be effected.

I'm also curious to see how this plays out. If I was the tag holder and lost someone in my immediate family making it impossible to hunt that year, I wouldn't want to lose the points I've accumulated with the reasoning that I would probably want to hunt moose again in the following years. Also, I'm hoping that the person receiving the tag would at least have the minimum points required for the tag in the WMU.

It’s unfortunate for a group if the tag holder can’t hunt that week. But the new system isn’t about groups anymore. I feel if the tag holder has a legitimate reason to not hunt, the tag should be turned in and he should keep his points. The tag would be lost. Unfortunate for the group, but as I said it’s not about groups now.

Groups are still relevant in Ontario, the difference is now you apply individually. More thought is required so that groups maximize their opportunities by being strategic in the tags they want and the phase of the draw to which to obtain them so that you have members with points remaining for next year.

A hunter shouldn’t lose any points until he actually accepts and pays for the tag. He should keep his point totals if he doesn’t claim the tag.

You do not have to except a tag till literally 5 minutes before you plan to leave for the trip if on the 2nd draw and you have a lot of time to figure out after the first draw and if you denied it odds are with your points you would get it on the second draw again , so under any circumstance should excepting it be a issue then not being able to go hunting,

the person accepted a tag this year, so old age can not really be an Issue. why accept it ...

I dont even think they should be given a way to refund it ...

you can not go, after confirming u can ? well thats too bad I think.

even Restaurants are now charging for no show if u reserve a spot.

Any one can say to bad until they are put in that position. What if you accept a tag then find out you have to undergo cancer treatment? To bad so sad is what some of you are saying.
