Thanks for posting a great example of yet another ridiculous article. Loved the fancy infographic showing the various stages of their response to the pandemic, which have quite obviously done nothing to curb predictable seasonal waves. Look at number 9, "mask mandate returns", not even a dip in the trajectory.
This isn't the first time Alberta has been in the news for being caught off guard by huge "case spikes", yet by their own graph this wave was quite easily predictable. They still only have 287 ICU beds in the whole province. That is the issue and just about the only point in the article worth noting.
It's September in Alberta, that's why people are getting sick. No need for the political blame game. I was in Calgary in September of 2019 and my flight home was hampered by a snowstorm.
Usually I wouldn't get much past the headline of that article, and admittedly I couldn't read all of it. I quit reading at "vaccine passports have an impact", as noted by the increase in vaccine uptake after the announcement. That's the impact that is desired? We've been told it's to create more "safe indoor spaces". More vaccine uptake doesn't mean those coerced people are going to use those spaces, it means they just pressured more people into an experiment.

Climate here doesn't work the same as in Alberta, especially humidity. If you haven't been keeping up to date mankind is trying to hold back and vaccinate against a new cold virus.
