If you go thru the motions and am successful in a controlled hunt for a certain WMU, it doesnt make sense to me that I cannot use a bow / crossbow (providing I wear hunter orange)
Yes I am fully aware bow season is a long season but the first week of November is some great hunting that I miss out on due to this rule...
I agree with all of you ridiculous rule
I’m on my own property but I can’t bow hunt during first gun week or 3rd hunt. 2nd hunt is are muzzleloader choice
nice to see a few others are in agreements - perhaps we can get OFAH involved and see if controlled hunts could also include bows - if in fact the numbers are still being "controlled" then there should be no reason against it???
Question: Would it be because MNRF want the majority of the deer taken asap?
I know nothing of controlled hunts up this way and simply asking.
Not allowed-i asked once directly MNR.That was when they generously "extended "the shotgun season to include Sunday in WMU 80.Yet-at the time, from 8-9 municipalities WMU 80 is made up,ONLY 1 (ONE)allowed Sunday gun discharge.
So-basically they give by TAKING away a day of hunt.
Dec. Cont. Deer hunt here is muzzleloader or bow.But-You still can apply to ONLY one of the 2 seasons,so it is still a NO GO .
Reg states clearly for Nov hunt-shotgun or muzzleloader"ONLY".
That"ONLY" is the key word.
I also told them-to no avail, when i started hunting ,there was 3 months hunt in WMU 80(6 days Cont Deer)the rest was bow.For "anyone".
They GIVE more oppportunities, intorduced Dec Cont Muzzleloader, and the Sunday (useless)day of hunt.
So-basically they TOOK away in WMU 80 total 8 days of hunting opportunities.
