Ptarmigan Irruption 2021
Hey folks, been awhile and had a crazy year. Last winter that passed on the Quebec side of the Border there was a huge record numbers of Willow Ptarmigan that wintered alot futhur south then normal years as far south as Rouyn in a once in a 30 or 40 year event. So hearing about that from bird watchers and confirmed observations on the internet, I decided to do some ptarmigan hunting on my own here in Ontario while im hunting normal grouse and sharptails at the same time and surely enough connected on 2 of em in March in the cuts on the forestry roads in the northern wmus. Was an awesome surprise and definitely a neat bird of a lifetime. Tasty too, like a better tasting spruce grouse.

Amazing and congrats on the bag. Definitely want to experience hunting them one day.

Sure looks like they're built for the colder, snowy climates. Even fitted with winter boots. Very nice bird. Seen lots when flying up north years ago but never hunted them... cool photos.
