Wild Pig Surveillance Program is seeking volunteers (Northwestern Ontario)
The OFAH and the Invading Species Awareness Program are looking forvolunteers, especially in Northwestern Ontario, to participate in The Wild Pig Surveillance Program(WPSP)
HOW DOES THE PROGRAMWORK?
Volunteers will receive our loaner kits, which include one pre-programmed camera, two 16gb memory cards, a safety lockbox with padlock, a python lock for lockingto tree, eight AA batteries, keys and a “heavy duty” box with foam inserts.Volunteers will be asked to keep an eye on the landscape for invasive wild pigs(Sus scrofa).
After a successful program launch last year, we’re hoping to keep themomentum going in 2022 by getting 50 trail cameras on the landscape.
In consultation with the province’s wild pig program, we are hoping to placea majority of the surveillance cameras in Northwestern Ontario, near theManitoba and Minnesota borders. However, no matter where you are, don’thesitate to volunteer.
