A little advice?

Hey y'all, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on a canoe rack for an atv?

I am planning a 2 week solo bush hunt for moose and bear and know of some back lakes I can atv close to. I would like to carry the canoe on a rack but I dont know if I should buy one from somewhere and if so which one or just make one myself.

I have a 16ft aluminum canoe so its a bit on the heavier side.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I was going to buy one of those canoe cards, strap the end of canoe to it, and other end strapped to ATV's back rack, but following for better advice.

We built are own. I will see if I can find some pics, if you can't weld maybe you have a friend that can.

I have done may trips like the one you mentioned to back lakes and have always used a narrow boat trailer to tow the boat or canoe behind the ATV and if you are successful you have something to put the moose quarters in to bring back to camp or your vehicle. I have found the rack with the canoe on top can be top heavy when on an ATV and can get hung up on overhanging branches works better on a UTV.

Interesting. I am going to be pulling my enclosed trailer temporarily converted to be my camp. I wouldn't have room for a second trailer for the canoe.

Pictures are not the greatest and my buddy made a new one that he connects using pins. I connect mine using bolts and wing nuts with lock washers. My buddies new one only has one support in the front and two supports in the back. Each was made to attach to our front and back racks.

But maybe the pics will give you an idea. I would also suggest keeping it as low as possible to your head, so sit on the bike and see what height feels best.

I would make a lot of changes if I built a new one. Only need one support in front. Would have found a better way to connect mine.

I asked my buddy to send me pics of the second one he made much lighter and simpler to install then mine. But have not heard back yet.

On mine if I wanted I could put some boards across and put equipment up there if I wanted to
