Was wondering if anyone does Magnet Fishing and if they got some neat finds.
How much did you spend on the magnet. and how many pounds do you recommend. They don't look to expensive saw one for 35 bucks on Amazon suppose 450 pounds it can hold.

It be interesting to find out. With all the reports on Lake Simcoe of lost/found gear during the ice fishing season would imagine alot of stuff on the bottom.
It was on the news a few months ago a kid was magnet fishing with his Mom from a bridge. He pulled up a old rifle but it fell back in. They called the cops and they sent the diving team that found the rifle.
I think a metal detector would be easier and more lucrative. Haha
Magnet fishing, reminds me of a cute story that happened many years ago. This buddy and myself along with a few others ice fished across the province for many years and concentrated mainly down around the land of lakes area... One of the other buddies that fished with us had a log cabin in that particular area and we used his place as home base when we fished that particular area.
The one weekend that I couldn't get down there my buddy had a run in with a CO. Nothing drastic but according to him the CO was a bit of a hard nose and promissed him he'd get even with him. The license on his snow machine had expired and proceeded to write him a ticket. After the ticket was written up my buddy pulled out his wallet and there was the up todate license. He forgot to put it on. Well that peed the CO off and hense said he'd get him one of these days.
So about two or three weeks past since the incedent we were back down in the land of lakes fishing and once on the ice my buddy started to drill holes, a lot of holes. I asked why and he told me the story and said he thought Fred, that's the name he gave the CO might show up. We each set up with two lines each then my buddy started to put down extra lines with a magnet attached to them saying these were for Fred.
Well wouldn't you know it later in the morning this guy comes walking onto the ice yelling don't move I've got you now, you're fishing with too many lines. I said to myself this should be good. He picks up one line that has a minnow attached to it and lays it on the ice, walks over to the next line with the same results. Next he walks over to another picks it up and it's one with a magnet attached to it. What the hell is this he asked, when my buddy answered we're fishing for Steelhead. I'm telling you, you should have seen the look on this CO's face. If looks could kill, then my buddy asked him if he wanted a ride back to his snow machine. I don't know how far back it was because we never heard it.. We never saw him again...
