Would it damage my barrel to shoot a slug through it? It’s a fixed full choke. Would riffled be better than sabot or vice versa?

I was advised against that by a gunsmith a few years ago.
I have a fixed full choke 12 gauge and have shot slugs through it no problem.
I would not shoot sabot, will not shoot any better then any regular slug, but will cost You double.
Not sure about potential damage.
Ask a gunsmith ,to be safe.
You can only shoot foster slugs through a full choke. There really isn't a difference in performance though.
Dumb question, but is foster a riffled slug? Or is it different
Smooth bores are not made for sabots. Foster and rifled slugs are one and the same. Generally cost about 10 bucks a box of 5.
Slugs have been used in full chokes for longer than I've been alive. Sabots would be of no use in a smoothbore and steel shot is a no no.
Thanks guys
There used to an urban legend that shooting slugs through a full choke tube would damage the choke and the threads. I inadvertently tried it and the tube and threads suffered no ill effects after five shots.
