A couple of weeks ago my wife nicked a deer and after being deflated about it she picked the crossbow up figured what she did wrong and got back in the stand
this weekend we couldn't hunt together because of having to drive the kids to work so we took shifts, I took the morning shift (uneventful) she took the afternoon shift.
wind wasn't the best for her favorite stand so she took my Ozonics unit and hunted with it. 5:52pm my phone goes off with a trailcam picture of a big doe coming into the stand. 30 seconds later a picture of her perfectly broadside and then a text saying "I shot" so just having picked up our son at work I said "i was on our way"
we texted back and forth with the help of our son on the 40 min drive and after about 1/2h she climbed down out of the stand and recovered her bolt. I was covered in blood, the kind of blood that makes every hunter smile. We met at the parking spot and went back to the the location of the shot. arrow was covered in beautiful heart blood and we started on a very weak blood trail but it was only about 20 yards long. in 30 years of hunting this is the biggest doe I've ever laid hands on weighing in at 159lbs dressed.
