Electric Trucks and Cars

So at some point there might be no choice and you might have to buy at least one electric vehicle within the next 10 years.

I'm watching quite closely as I will retire in about 6-7 years and my wife in 10 years. Checking out the Ram to be release in 2024 and the Cyber truck late 2023 and the current F150 I think it is going to be out of my range as what I would need would be approx 120K.

An electric car like the Tesla for my wife will be more affordable as the Model 3 is about 75K Tax in. Most likely I will but a gas truck used but very new costing about 45K.

The F150 Lightening isn't much of a truck as it can only go about 100km with a load so it's out. The Ram supposedly with do 300km + with a load and 800 without so it would be doable but the price I am hearing is 125K

Being required to buy an e-vehicle in the next few years is a leftist pipe dream. Consumer purchasing power is being reduced on a daily basis. Despite the Liberal's claims that everything on the economy front is "rosy",quite clearly,they've lost complete touch with reality. Expecting consumers to cough up $60-100K to buy one,convert their home electrical system for a charging system and paying humungous hydro bills with an inadequate generating system to service the hydro requirements until new generation infrastructure is built (think nuclear) proves the enviromental cases are only deluding themselves. Solar and wind has proven completely unreliable. We only need to look to Europe for positive proof of a complete failure. Battery technology,while baby steps are being made,still isn't nearly adequate technically and nobody is paying attention to geo-political issues with the only countries with base elements to build better batteries being directly hostile to the west not to even mention the catastrophic environmental damage from mining those same base elements (that the leftist enviro-whackos are conveniently ignoring). At the very most,e-vehicles will be limited 200KM range (less in winter temps) small cars that will serve as grocery getters and running the kids to school vehicles for only the well-heeled that can afford them. I doubt they'll be main stream vehicles anytime soon,in the next 50 years....maybe.

I agree with trimmer21. The infrastructure for our grid is going to need upgrading. The storage technology just isn’t there yet. I think we are in the infant stage of e-vehicles. Right now unless you are running local errands, they make no sense. Good luck towing/hauling anything. What about time wasted waiting for charging? There’s lots here to discuss. I don’t think they’ll be mainstream in my lifetime.

Would be tough for me to charge one up at the hunt camp with no electricity.... They would have to have some serious range before I would want one.

It's all going to come down to politics not about affordability. With mandatory mandates coming they plan on forcing the change. With a reduction in gas powered vehicles down 20% by 2026 and to 100% by 2035.

These mandatory mandates are all troughtout the agenda and our substanable development goals. The same faith the Dutch farmers faced is in the background of our newest mandates when they mandated our farmers with nitrogen. They did that already with the Dutch farmers years ago and here we go following the same footsteps.

I'm not planning an electric vehicle for a long time . If they were that much better the government's wouldn't need to give incentives to buy them. They can push the gas up all they want its still more affordable when we purchase our vehicles outright and are not putting thousands of dollars more out each year to drive. It's why we won't buy a new car lots of good used ones need a good home for a fraction of the cost of new one.

For some it works and others it won't. I'm certainly not going to be spending 8 thousand a year for our vehicles. That can get me 3 years or better for the same price on a nice clean reliable vehicle. . Going on 2 years with our latest just rolled over 150 thousand and not a speck of rust . First time winter driven last winter if it last 2 more years will have less than 2 grand a year on payments. Our last car from the dealership payed 22 thousand and scrapped it after the last payment lol.

Coal burning plants ? My understanding is that the rhetoric about nuclear power is very negative by that crowd..

If your in the market for a truck I would check out Rivian. Not sure when you will get one but they look nice.

Can you imagine if we had one of those 24 hour power blackouts, I'm sure the rate of self inflicted wounds would shoot up rather quickly.

Let's just for a few moments think about everything going electric and I mean everything just like the lefties want,then,someone turns out the lights for a month. What would you think happens to society then?

After seeing what the pandemic did, especially the early days.... Better be prepared.
