So I guess every folding knife I've ever owned including a box cutter would be illegal? I don't even understand why being able to open a knife one handed is an issue. You are allowed to have a fixed blade so the speed of deployment really doesn't matter if someone is determined to use a knife for harm.
Interesting video anyway.
So only the small jackknives will be allowed? I usually need 3 hands to open one of them with my sausage fingers.
The regs were changed to also ban knives that can be opened by centrifugal force. CBSA is now interpreting this to include any folder that from a partially open position can be opened the rest of the way by flicking of the hand/wrist.
The result is essentially no folders are being let across the border. The only way around right now is to have the knife shipped in separate pieces and assembled here
I'm just curious, what would prompt the change? You can't bring knives into prison, yet people still get stabbed all the time. They can't really call it a public safety issue in my opinion.
Amazon stopped selling folding knives about a year ago.
Canadian Tire still sells them.
Crazy stuff .
