6 point down
well wasn't supposed to rain today but i started about 730 on and off. Decided I'd hunt till 10 if it didn't pour. was about to get ready to go as it was 957 and I see deer coming down the trail I walked in on about 70yds out. Got xbow up and ready, he kept coming into the bush at 30yd. Figured he turn on the deer trail that cut across at 22yds, but he kept coming not giving me the broad side I was hoping for. At 10ft I couldn't take it any more so aimed low to the right centre of his chest and fired. Should never take a front shot as the odds are against you but I couldn't let it wind me. when he was hit he turned and kicked and ran over a small tree beside me. I packed up and walked the trial back to jeep and quad and dog. Had coffee hooked trailer up to jeep, unload quad. waited about 45 minutes and went back. No blood or hair, Sam started her thing. She found the bolt about 150yds away so I knew she was on the right track. Blood trail started there light for a bit then heavier. At about 500yds I was thinking I should back off and wait till afternoon. Sam wasn't really following the trail now. I kept going and found him in a little over another 100yds. So total about 600yds with all these leaves on the trees. I missed the top of the heart by about an inch and got 1 lung. I was luck I had Sam with me to find the arrow. I'd never recommend taking a front shot and could have easily found out why.
6 point, 4 on one side, 2 on the other. really big body for a small rack
