Ladder stand would be my 1st choice, but l move around most of the time and use a stool with natural cover when the wind allows it.
I'm a ground guy, very back back. no tent just natural cover put out well before season.
I shot this 11 pt last November while sitting on the ground with natural cover. Never had much confidence before then on the ground but after he came walking by safe to say the ground is just as good as in a tree

Bow hunting I'm in a tree. But I have had some great ground kills.
Muzzleloader I am on the ground because I can shoot out to 150 confidently... :) Funny thing is I shoot most of my M/L deer inside 30 yards. LOL
Rifle - I hunt from the ground. I don't need the deer close so as long as I'm still and have a favouring wind, I'm good. If the wind is wrong - I'll just move to where it works.
Bow - tree stand - I've used a hang-on stand for 15 years now, but I've got a ladder stand now and they are a lot nicer. Plan on getting a couple more.
Deer in my area have been conditioned to look up in trees, other than getting out of the scent stream, the benefit hunting on the ground when it gets cold and there are no leaves on the trees is an option I may try this year.
I have never had an issue with distance on the ground. Last year I got 2 small bucks, one was about 10ft from me and would have walked right past me. the other was maybe 20yds and I have gotten a couple others at about 10ft and my son got his first buck at 10ft. So for me natural cover and no movement works well.
In my area, the deer population is at rock bottom which means fewer sightings. As a result, I’ve had to adjust my hunting style. In the big woods, I would sit in treestands or ground blinds made from natural materials. Nowadays I spend more time walking hoping to jump or intercept a deer. In farm country we have elevated box blinds and some ladder stands that I tolerate to sit in but prefer the woods.
