When Is Violence Justified

I'm sure that most of you have read about a young kid shooting and killing the CEO of a large insurance company- what is surprising is that a lot of people are supporting this killer - claiming that the CEO's company has killed thousands of people because of way they deny claims - many in the news media are out spoken in condemning the killing and the reaction to it by so many - some state that violence is never justified-

My take on this is that the kid committed murder and must be held responsible but to state that violence is never justified is going too far - America was formed by violence and violence has kept it free over the years - also I can understand that people who are mistreated and unable to get justice when trying to right a wrong may get to a point that they take matters into their own hands - our constitution has the 2nd amendment that gives citizens the right to bear arms for the purpose of fighting the government when it becomes necessary- a form of violence - although I personally don't condone violence unless absolutely necessary I do understand why people get violent at times -

At 26 years old, I do not think he is a kid. If you change your post to calling him an adult, it puts a different spin on things. You guys have enough cases of actual "kids" committing unspeakable crimes not to have misinformation bringing up another one. I'm 75 and I understand that at age 90 he may seem like a kid but he is not. He is another deranged adult killer. Just my point of view.

The cheering is from the thousands of people who paid for insurance only to be denied. You don't get grievance by bankrupting the people for a treatment that was supposed to be covered. When ai decides who gets treatment and who doesn't or who lives and dies from it there is no mercy from the people being effected.


We justify violence in the whole middle east ,libia, Syria , Lebanon, Iran shall I keep going ?

People don't morn over people who think they did them wrong.

You pay half your life into something and get denied and go bankrupted I can see the frustration.

They had the most denied claims of them all.

It now makes sense of the 3 bullets engraved. Delay,deny and depose.

Delay the sick patients deny them and send them off to their death. Or go bankrupt for a treatment.

Not justifying his actions just trying to figure out why the people don't care about the ceo .

My opinion on this incident: A growing sector of the population, both lower class as well as middle class are paying a big percentage of their take home for insurance. Home, avg $2000 per year, auto avg $1300, dental/medical, about $3000 per year. Even these numbers are lowball I figure. So that is call it $6000 or over 10% of the take home for the average family and it gives you NOTHING solid or physical. you can't eat it, or warm your house with it, and you hope you never need it.
When you do need it you get a circle jerk and runaround from a voice on the phone, always wanting the same paperwork they say you didn't send, just hoping frustration will set in and you will give up.
You can't say it doesn't happen as I have been dealing with this crap with numerous companies that keep amalgamating, or streamlining, or restructuring. These are big institutions such as Canada Life, London Life, Johnson Insurance among others.
I have just ben lucky that I keep paperwork in files for future access to prove they are lying and hiding info.
MIL has been in memory care for dementia going on 3 years now, They have numerous times stopped payment and asked for proof that she is actually not better.
The same company, we found in an old statement was STILL tacking on a travel insurance premium that was not written or stated on the premium payments. For a women in LTC.
I have had sleep apnea for over 15 years, the insurance company allows 2 masks per year for me. Out of the blue this year they denied my claim for a $300 and wanted a doctors prescription to show I still had apnea. Luckily I still had paper from the original diagnosis.
The industry is about making money and not paying out whenever possible and the humanity of the upper echelon is non-existent.
Without change, I do believe vigilante justice from those who have nothing left to lose will become more of a reality in society.
Not condoning it but glass towers will get rocks thrown at them.

If car dealers tried to get away with charging for a Cadillac,but,delivering a Volkswagen,we can imagine the outrage and retribution. Yet,with insurance companies,that's exactly what we get. Before his death,my American BIL was involved in a motor vehicle collision sustaining severe injuries. Although being "fully" covered by his company health plan,they nickle and dimed him to the point where even after the claims were paid by the insurance,he was still left with a medical bill of close to $90K simply by avoidance and obfuscation by insurance company bureaucrats. To hire a lawyer to sue and recover would have cost an additional $100K. Obviously,that makes no sense. Of course,the insurance company knew that,too. Having seen the shenanigans first hand,I get people's frustration and how it triggers the lunatic fringe.

Not to be cold but what industry isn't about making money? Would they be in business if every Tom, Dick, and Henry that shows up and says "show me the money" gets paid out? Can't really blame them to scrutinize and periodically review the veracity of every claim too weed out potential scammers. I look at it just like work. It takes a little more than just showing up to collect your pay check, so should collecting your benefits. Now the flip side if they did payout more and more freely what would that do to your premiums? Yup through the roof they would go. So what would you prefer easier payout yet more expensive plans or keep working a little harder and hope the premiums say affordable.
So ya the system is frustrating and so is life but that can not or be allowed to be an excuse for violence.

Well-according to Wikipedia-they certainly could afford more then some shenanigans'.
Among the TOP 50 companies in the world -8 are Healthcare!
Since they are mostly in the USA(and one is the Company which CEO was killed)i assume-they are all Health related Insurance companies.

Now-these beloved companies raked in LAST year a mere 50 billion dollars.PROFIT!
United Health alone MADE 22 billion dollar profit!!!

People are not dumb!

ps-I am also against the killing of the CEO ....but that is yet another story.

Your assumption is a bit off. Although health insurance forms part of the category it mostly involves all health services ie hospitals, big pharma, etc, etc.

That was a good post FFF, but I certainly see the other side as well.

I read somewhere that health care was the largest industry in the US, and probably here too. RFK’s a bit whacked but he’s onto something BIG
