00 buckshot should do the trick, or #4 buckshot, both depending on pattern of course.
Is it ok to use 00 buck in an extra full choke?
No you ruin your pattern and maybe barrel
#4 buck would be a good choice 00 buck is way overkill and at 40 yards might be a little open. You really have to pattern your gun with the load you want to use and see what choke works the best for your intended range.
If you want it for the pelt I wouldn't use a shotgun. All considering I would use a magnum turkey load with that choke. Heavy lead with a full choke pattern. Deadly. 70 yards may be a bit far though.
We use 00 buck, 3 or 3.5 inch.
No6 shot at 30 yards worked turkey hunting last year.....3.5 Feds I beleave
I use federal premium #4s, the 3 inch ones. They are pretty inexpensive and effective
I use Remington 3" 000 buck with a mod.choke, getting a full pattern out to 50M with my Wingmaster 28" VR. I've only nailed two or three with them, but, they went down quick in heavy cover without a lot of pelt damage.
