An indoor dog will generally shed all year. Buy a good vacuum. Brush the heck out of your dog. The more you brush the less you vacuum, but you wont eliminate it.
Labs shed. All day, every day, all year. At some points during the year, they shed more than usual. In my experience, it's their only downfall.
I vacuum where the dog sleeps every day (no exaggeration) to get a handle on the hair. It's making me seriously consider investing in a Dyson.
Brush/comb your dog as often as possible. This is where I admit to falling down as a dog owner. I think my dogs are shedding more than usual this year because they have spent SO much time inside because of the weather.
We have a black lab also - she constantly sheds. This year we bought a robot vacuum because we were losing our minds over the dog hair everywhere. I highly recommend it as does my wife. It vacuums while we are at 4 days a week and keeps the dog hair to a minimum.
A friend has a yellow lab that sheds crazy, way more then any lab I've owned. His wife bought a furminator and he said it's incredible. Also crazy expensive. lol
Our Brittany sheds quite a bit. Drives me nuts too. There is a funny side to it though: he loves to cuddle so much that I can actually sit him down with me and he will let me vacuum him with the end of the hose and the brush attachment! LOL! Not a perfect cleaning solution but does cut down on some of the shedding all over the house.
Thanks for all the advive, think I hear the vacuum calling me now. lol
I use the ferminator weekly on Maddy, really helps cut down on the hair on the floors, will never be eliminated but you can tell the weeks I "skipped" by the increase in hair on the floor.
The robot vaccum is awesome for this!
use furminator in the summer for my dog he does not seem to like it but it does rake in clumps of hair. could of made a nice wool out of it... it was so much.
it was worth the $.
