crossbows are good to go, should have no problems, just tell them at the border you have it with you and you can get a card from them saying it's yours, so there will be no problem bringing it back into Can. if they think you bought it in the USA
No issue getting a crossbow across the border. Take your bow to your nearest Canada Customs office and get the bow and scope stickered. It's not a legal requirement but it will help avoid any hassles when you bring it back into Canada.
Hahaha thats true paul. Id be tackled and having a very long holiday
Just make sure they are cased and walk right into the customs office like it was stated they see it every day. I have walked into airports with firearms encased also and never had a problem. I made sure I knew where to go at the airport tho before I walked in but after asking where to take them and then going out to the truck it was a piece of cake. Good luck on the boar hunt sounds like fun
You will have no problem crossing the boarder with a bow or crossbow. You can get a sticker for it and any other item such as expensive cameras at your nearest Customs office. I have bow hunted Russian Boars in Tennessee and Whitetail hunted in Pennsylvania and had no problems at the boarder. There is a restriction on the amount of meat that can be brought home but I don't remember the exact weight 44lbs maybe. Also if you have an invitation to a hunt camp it is a good thing to have handy in case they ask as you enter USA.
Sounds like its an easy process to take it with you but what about any necessary hunting licenses on the US side? Can you share with us the requirements?
Every state has different laws regarding licenses. PA for example you can go into any Walmart and purchase a deer tag that also gives you a spring turkey for the following year. Lots of state land that can be hunted or private land if you know someone that lives there. Other states might have a number system. This means you have to apply and save points maybe for 3 years before you make it into the tag draws. Research the place you want to go. You might have to hunt through an outfitter. The outfitter can steer you in the right direction for their state.
