There were 3,510 bears bagged last season in Pa. - 58 bears weighed 500 pounds or more - 9 topped 600 pounds - the heavest weighed an estimated 772 pounds - the population of bear is thriving and expanding into areas ounce considered the fringe of the bear range -

Sounds like they're expanding into garbage dumps to me. 500+ truly wild bears are rare. Lots reach that size that live in landfills.

You guys had better check the records Pen has some of the largest black bears in north America I believe the record is around 900 lbs.
A lot of them PA bears live in corn and oat fields all summer/fall. I can't imagine the crop damage from one 700lb bear for a year.
