First Brookies on the fly !

My first Brookies/Specs on the fly..

Crystal clear water ... stalked and spotted a small school swimming around. Tried a few natural coloured flies (caddis, terrestrials). Finally drifted a yarn yellow egg past them with some split shot & game on. They act/fight like fish 3X their size !!!

Second Brookie, substantially bigger. Took a white minnow pattern I was drifting/pulling across a pool. Again, crystal clear water, but not interested in anything natural. Thank god too !! very subtle take, I would have never picked up on it, except for the fact that my white fly vanished. And again a good fight.

All fish caught and released.

Couple pretty looking specks there. My brother and I were tossing the idea around of learning the art of fly fishing.

Nice specs!!! If that second one was caught in a southern ON creek, it's a true trophy...
Looks like 1-1.5lbs to me! Although brownies get that big and bigger, very rare for a creek speckle down here.
