I decided to take our Brittany to Ruffwood yesterday for a fall tune-up. He hadn't been in front of a bird (although countless squirrels and chipmunks) since last fall. We have stayed true to his training, and worked on several skill-developments throughout the summer.
I was a little apprehensive that he would be sloppy - not the case. We ran him around the property to blow off some steam, then got down to work. We had 5 Chuker put out, and 4 solid points. He began to creep on the very last point after it was shot and down, but before I released him. If this is the only transgression in a year, it is the least of my concerns. We took home 5 birds with some great shooting (if I may say so myself)!
My fiancé took the day off to see what all this was about, and she enjoyed herself (uh-oh!). She worked the camera and I worked the shotgun. This was the first time that she saw our little guy working; needless to say, we were both impressed. Most importantly, everyone had fun!
The fields at Ruffwood were in great shape. Mike was friendly as always.
