That's why I'm happy mine is docked a bit
EMT gel
I occasionally have to deal with this, with my Beagles. It depends on the severity of the problem. When the tail bleeds every time the hound is out for a run, its time to shorten the tail. I use rubber castration rings available at TSC etc. This causes very little discomfort during the process of the tail tip dyeing and falling off. The little Hounds are always healthier and happier after.
Not sure I would advertise that you do that on line. It is commonly done with lambs ( along with a burdizzo for castrating) for health reason - bot fly etc. Ontario is one of the provinces still allowing cropping/docking , but I would be cautious.
( I almost got in trouble once with declawing new pups myself - which I had done since 1960.)
Is there provinces that don't allow a pups tail to be docked?Quote:

Either cropping or docking or both banned in P.E.I. , Newfoundland , Nova Scotia , New Brunswick , Manitoba, British Columbia and second reading in Alberta.

I guess pups from the year the law was enacted in each province will, unless they ACCIDENTLY fell off. :)
"TORONTO , Feb. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), in response to recently announced changes to the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association's by-laws banning cosmetic ear cropping plus pending directives to veterinarians in other provinces would like to reiterate to the larger community of veterinarians, dog breeders, dog owners and the general public that none of the 175 Canadian Kennel Club breed standards require that a dog should have cropped ears.
